Description
Deep Space Exploitation is a 2D Pixel Art Physics game about mining asteroids in space. Players mine fully destructible asteroids in deep space using risky equipment while working for an exploitative corporation. Hard won earnings are used to buy new equipment and upgrades, and secure their pilot's future.
Features
- Chunky pixel art with detailed diegetic interfaces.
- 2D physics for chaotic or cautious mining.
- Fully destructible asteroids.
- Upgradable space ship and choice of equipment.
- Short narrative about working against an exploitative corporation to secure your future.
About Development
Development started in September 2025 as my first commercial project. The concept of the game was essentially: Asteroids but you mine them. This influenced the static wrapped play area of the game, the controls and movement, and overall aesthetic to a point. The other major influence is the Worms games for their destructible environments/terrain and controlled chaos.
The project was originally supposed to take 4 to 6 months, but this being my first real project some miscalculation was to be expected, and double the initial time is probably not that bad. :)
No generative AI has been used throughout development. Ultraviolet Framework is used for graphics, audio, and window management. A local fork of Velcro Physics is used for the physics.
